If i really like anime and manga, should I go to college signing up for theatre arts?

I really like anime/ manga. Its my main hobby and I really like it. Although, I want to become famous, so I declared theater arts as my major. Is this a better idea, or what? What do you think? Do you think I should explore more of the world of anime/manga and get a career anime/manga animation? oh, yeah, and I am about to graduate from high school to go to be a freshman in college.

I think it is great you have talent in these areas. Colleges have counselors who know their courses and how to arrange things just perfectly. I would make an appointment to speak with one of them. Tell them your goal, and have them share with you the types of classes that would help you achieve this the quickest way.

Has anyone seen the Broadway tour of Spring Awakening... and did you like it?

Wondering if I should try to see it in NYC or when it comes to town on tour next Fall.
Has anyone seen the Broadway tour of Spring Awakening... and did you like it?
i%26#039;ve seen it on broadway twice. its AMAZING. i%26#039;m sure the touring cast will be just as talented. i think you%26#039;d be fine with which ever one you want to see. the benifit of going to the broadway version is you get to be in nyc.

Where can i find a easy way to get hacks on audition?
The question isn%26#039;t clear at all. Ask it again and you might get more answers.

Is they really a phantom at the paris oprah house?

the phanthom who wanted to mary cristine daae and the ugliest phanthom in paris.
Is they really a phantom at the paris oprah house?
wtf are you talking about
Is they really a phantom at the paris oprah house?
Uh, no. That was just fiction.
Reply:No, the Phantom is a fictional character created by French author Gaston Leroux back in the early 1900s. Christine, Raoul and all the other characters in the story are also fiction. The only thing real in the story is the Paris Opera House itself. If you should ever get to Paris, you can visit the Opera House and see some of the building that inspired the thrilling story.

Audtion times?

i am going to an auditon tommarow at my locol theatre and the auditios are from 9 am to 12pm does that mean i will have to be there from 9 to 12 or i can just show up and audition anywhere from 9 to 12. stupid question i knnow but just making sure
Audtion times?
Here%26#039;s a good rule of thumb in the acting world:

20 minutes early is on time,

On time is late,

Late = no job.

So yeah, be there at 8:40 AM. Have fun!
Audtion times?
Be there at least ten minutes before nine o%26#039;clock. To me that reads like it is going to be an audition session that runs from 9 until 12, and you will be required to be there for the entirety of that session. But I mean, even if you aren%26#039;t, better to be there at nine, discover you are later and then come back, rather than showing up at anytime and having missed your audition. Good luck!

How would i go about being like an extra or something in tv shows or movies?

i want to pursue acting, i%26#039;d like to start out small, like as an extra.

i%26#039;ve never had acting lessons or anything, so i figure just being in the environment can help until i get enough money to take classes and yeah. my sisters friend is an extra all the time, and he says people just call him asking if he%26#039;s available and stuff, but i dont know how to make that happen...help?
How would i go about being like an extra or something in tv shows or movies?
Go to your local theater bookstore (such as Samuel French, in Los Angeles), and buy a guide such as %26quot;How to Be a Working Actor: The Insider%26#039;s Guide to Finding Jobs in Theater, Film, and Television.%26quot; This and several other such books list the casting directors and agencies who deal specifically with extras.

Next send your headshot and r茅sum茅 with a brief cover letter to the casting directors and agencies.

Follow up with a phone call. Inquire about their interview days.

Then attend an interview day, when the agency holds an open call for prospective extras. They will take an instant-developing photo of you, plus statistics about your height, weight, hair color and age. Fill out all necessary information, and behave in a polite and professional manner.

Be prepared to be called to show up on a movie set to work with only a day%26#039;s notice if the casting director or agency accepts you. Know in advance how you can be free and/or get time off work to go.

Show up 15 minutes early for your %26quot;call time%26quot;. Immediately find the staff person in charge of the extras. Fill out all forms and sign in.

Stay in the areas allotted for the extras; behave professionally, as you would on any important acting job.

Thank the staff member at the end of the day and request that you be brought back to work on the movie again.
How would i go about being like an extra or something in tv shows or movies?
You can try Open call auditions, but you have a very small chance of making it.

The best option is to do acting classes for a while ( like 12-18 months) and get yourself an agent, then they can get you auditions, that was you have a better chance of making it, some acting classes are only about $100 per term
Reply:extras dont ever make it. you have to find an agent that will take your head shot and stuff first , go to jonathan roberts or a place like that, you have to pay, but at least you start somewhere.

Poem Recital for a Drama Audition?

I am required to recite a poem for an audition. I want the poem to be lighthearted, not too long and hopefully not to out dated and old fashioned. Surprisingly there is no time limit although we were told it couldn%26#039;t be %26#039;too long.%26#039; All answers are appreciated. Thank you
Poem Recital for a Drama Audition?
All my past life is mine no more ;

The flying hours are gone,

Like transitory dreams given o鈥檈r

Whose images are kept in store

By memory alone.

Whatever is to come is not :

How can it then be mine ?

The present moment鈥檚 all my lot,

And that, as fast as it is got,

Phyllis, is wholly thine.

Then talk not of inconstancy,

False hearts, and broken vows ;

If I, by miracle, can be

This livelong minute true to thee,

鈥橳is all that heaven allows.

this poem is by john wilmot %26#039;n its really a good one. i%26#039;ll definitely choose this one if i was on ur place.

nywayz good luck.
Poem Recital for a Drama Audition?
My absolute favourite poem - %26#039;The Road Not Taken%26#039;. Probably not what you are looking for if the criteria is excluding %26#039;out-dated%26#039;, but I think the language lends itself beautifully to it%26#039;s purpose. If nothing else, it%26#039;s worth a look.

I%26#039;d also be heading to the Library. Original poems on the internet are rarely any good.
Reply:just look one up, it%26#039;s not that hard.
Reply:excerpts from Carl Sandburg%26#039;s LITTLE WORD, LITTLE WHITE BIRD--alot of wonderful word images describing the word %26quot;Love%26quot;--can choose as many descriptions as needed, leading up to, %26quot;...then there are those that say love is a little white bird, and the flight of it so fast you can%26#039;t see it, and you know it%26#039;s there only by the faint whirring of it%26#039;s wings and the hush song it sings.......%26quot; continuing through to the end of the poem ....%26quot;and my thanks for you hearing me, and my prayers for you. My deep, silent prayers.%26quot; Very moving, and allows for several characterizations within a very short period of time.

Robert Frost%26#039;s %26quot;The Road Not Taken%26quot; is good, also full of word imagery, but being used alot in recent times. %26quot;The Witch of Coos,%26quot; by Frost provides an excellent opportunity to define characters (narrator, mother, and son) as well as acting out the story told by the mother...(length approx 8-10 min)
Reply:Shel Silverstein (Hector the Collector or True Story, for example) or Ogden Nash are ALWAYS good choices for light auditions, although Nash%26#039;s works tend to be very short.

What would it be like to go to the theater as an actor in shakespeares time?

i ahve looked ever where but i cant find any info
What would it be like to go to the theater as an actor in shakespeares time?
Horrible! Frigging hard work, dude. The stage was round, a very short piece, of nondescript, backdrop. No actresses. (played by young boys) No props. The audience used to walk around and chit chat to all their friends. Making (bad) comments about the actors, director, (who is super boss, by the way) play, weather, (open theater%26#039;s ) and nobody got paid, because they did it for the love of it. If the actor was very good, he got offered board %26amp; lodgings for a night or so.

Peace.
What would it be like to go to the theater as an actor in shakespeares time?
Tough question. Just as today, it would depend on talent and luck--being in the right level of society to gain attention being key....there were companies called the %26quot;King%26#039;s Players%26quot; and, later, %26quot;The Queen%26#039;s Players%26quot; who travelled from court to court throughout Europe performing the latest court dances and %26quot;skits%26quot; that were based on gossip within the court or on the broader political issues of the times--as long as they supported the present ruling house. Read the play, %26quot;A Cry of Players%26quot; to get a bit of what Will Shakespeare%26#039;s family life might have been like in relation to his involvement with theatre. There were %26quot;rogue%26quot; theatre groups, but they were short lived due to the lack of funding for such groups. Most performers, as artists, were supported, at least partially, by an impresario--what we would term today as a %26quot;backer.%26quot;

Are there any guide lines ,for an actor,as to wether it is better to sign with a talent agent or not.?

I was recently told that %26quot; Talent/Theatrical agents/Agencies, in LA, are not in the habit of signing contracts with new, acting, clients.
Are there any guide lines ,for an actor,as to wether it is better to sign with a talent agent or not.?
The best thing that you can do is research, lots of it cause you never know what your going to find, especially in the contracts.
Are there any guide lines ,for an actor,as to wether it is better to sign with a talent agent or not.?
Without experience, you are not ready to talk agents and agencies. With experience you may be %26quot;scouted,%26quot; a field agent may attend a production in which you are performing and offer you the opportunity to test for the agency they represent. Just be sure the agency is reputable--not one that simply signs talent in order to bilk them for head shots, %26quot;introductions,%26quot; etc.

Once you have developed a resume you can start sending out %26quot;query letters%26quot; to agencies who handle your talent(s).
Reply:1. Training. Acting/Dancing/Singing classes are a good start. You start to get some talent under your belt, and grow your confidence. Plus, if after about a year of classes if you realize you really don%26#039;t like it, it%26#039;ll be easier for you to back out.

2. Experience. Do Community Theater, act in your school play, get in some student films, etc. You%26#039;ll want to do as many productions as possible to have a great resume.

3. Agent. http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/tale...

As you can see, you%26#039;re going to need to spend at least two years (At the VERY least. Usually you%26#039;ll need three to four.) building yourself up. You%26#039;ll want to make sure this is what you really want to do before you start getting into this.

Also, you should NEVER have to pay for anything when it comes to getting an agent. If an agent tells you to take special classes from them or a website asks for a credit card number, that is a red flag that it is a scam. Some of the big scammers out there are: John Robert Powers, Millie Lewis, John Casablancas, Proscout, Model Look, Barbizon.

Hope this helps and I wish you a fantastic career. =)

Red eyes and crying?

alright i want to be able to make my eyes look red, like ive just been crying its for a play that im in. without actually crying how do i get them red.

Also how would i make myself cry

tahnk you
Red eyes and crying?
you%26#039;ll cry if you dont wink or by chopping onions
Red eyes and crying?
try thinking of something sad...until you feel your heart breaking. the tears will eventually come.
Reply:Darling , you must cut onions or stay away from your love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(it would make you cry soon)
Reply:There are many ways to make your eyes red--a dab of makeup at the inner corner of the eye--this will also make your eyes water and give the appearance of crying. But the advice given, to bring to your mind something from your personal experience that makes you feel like crying, is excellent. Believe it or not, to look like you%26#039;ve been crying is far more than making your eyes red or bringing tears on cue--the total body should support the emotion behind the action of crying. How do you hold yourself when you are sad? Are you defeated in your sadness? Are you angered and defiant toward the source of your grief? What does your dialogue indicate your reaction is to being brought to tears? If you understand your character%26#039;s motivation for doing and saying what is given to them to do or say and are really %26quot;in sync%26quot; with your character, the tears will come.
Reply:A little red makeup pencil used like eyeliner (but sparingly, it can make you look scary if you use too much.)

Reply:Britain%26#039;s Got Talent is a British television show on ITV (also on TV3 in Ireland). Presented by Ant %26amp; Dec, it is a search for Britain%26#039;s next best talent act, featuring singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, and other talents of all ages. Anyone who believed they have talent was encouraged to audition. The winner of both series received 拢100,000 and are given the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of members of the Royal Family at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool.

The live finals are recorded at Fountain Studios in Wembley, which is the same studio as Britain%26#039;s Got Talent%26#039;s sister show, The X Factor.

The first series of the talent show premiered on 9 June 2007, and was broadcast daily with a live final on 17 June 2007, revealing Paul Potts as the first winner. The second series began on 12 April 2008. The final was aired on May 31, 2008, and was won by George Sampson.

What is a comedic monologue?

i was reading audition thing and said for actress they need prepare 1 minute comedic monologue what is that?
What is a comedic monologue?
A monologue is an extended, uninterrupted speech by a single person. The person may be speaking his or her thoughts aloud or directly addressing other persons, e.g. an audience, a character, or a reader.

As a literary device, it is most common in dramatic genres (plays, opera, animated cartoons, film) but can also be found in prose fiction. The term can also be applied to poems, which usually take the form of the thoughts or speech of a single individual. In everyday usage, a long, rather boring speech by a conversation partner is sometimes called a monologue as well.

The term %26#039;dramatic monologue%26#039; is used both for monologues in plays and for a poetic genre.

thats what a Monologue is,and comedic means funny so pretty much Comedic Monologue means kinda like a little play thtas funny...but not so long and only made by YOU...no help.should%26#039;nt be hard, but you have to be careful on what you do because thats what they judge you on to make sure your ready for acting or not be sure to take note of that.
What is a comedic monologue?
A monologue is a speech delivered by one actor. It can be addressed directly to the audience, or to another character. (At your audition, you%26#039;ll be alone on stage, so you%26#039;ll have to imagine the other character you%26#039;re speaking to.) A comedic monologue is just what it sounds like, a speech that%26#039;s funny in some way.
Reply:A monologue is a speech one actor delivers. It can be to other characters, but it%26#039;s usually about a page of just one character speaking.

There are three basic kinds of monologues you%26#039;ll need for auditions: comedic, serious and classical.

A comedic monologue is funny, a serious monologue is dramatic (not necessarily crying, can be angry or thoughtful), and classical is usually from Shakespeare, Moliere, Shaw or the Greeks.

As a rule they%26#039;ll want between one and two minutes%26#039; worth, but can stop you at any point, depending on how far behind they are in their auditioning schedule.

If you email me your age, gender, country of residence and what you%26#039;re auditioning for, I%26#039;ll send you some recommendations.
Reply:a funny monologue
Reply:More or less what others have told it is true that a comedic monologue is when we have to deliver a long single part as alone or to some one else. For being comedic it has got to be funny.

well I have done a long time back in our dramatic classes such a solliloquey and subsequently since it was found extremely hilarious to the whole school.

Talk to the drama teacher at your school and ask for recommendations. Friends and family compliments are nice, but not a good or accurate barometer for actual ability and potential.

How do you make yourself fake cry when auditioning?!?

think of really sad things that has happened to u that usually works........well 4 me it does
How do you make yourself fake cry when auditioning?!?
I think of my dog dieing, think of something that makes you super sad.

Hope this helped

Xoxo,

Meaghan
How do you make yourself fake cry when auditioning?!?
Pinch yourself, think of your worst ever memory.
Reply:what i do is start yawning and my eyes tear up. you have to do it enough that it will roll down your cheek. this works every time, and most people don%26#039;t think of it.
Reply:I always think about if someone close to me was dead it really works just think or something that makes you sad. : )

Good Luck
Reply:I always just think of sad things that have happened to me. It doesn%26#039;t work for me to imagine sad things, because those just make me sad and not cry. I think about things like relatives who have died, when my dogs got put to sleep, etc etc.

Also, I try not to blink for as long as possible while I am starting to feel sad, because it helps my eyes start to water. Once my eyes are getting watery from not blinking, I blink a few times and can sometimes get a tear or two to fall down my face. Then I am already sad and it starts to come naturally.

Obviously, you must also learn to feel vulnerable and open and comfortable in front of the people you are auditioning for. If you are not comfortable in front of them, you may have a harder time trying to show so much emotion.

Good luck.
Reply:Don%26#039;t try to MAKE yourself cry, or it%26#039;ll come off as bad acting. Try to let the words and action of the scene bring it out of you. If you%26#039;re busy thinking about something sad that actually happened to you, you%26#039;ll forget about the job at hand.

A basic trick is to keep your eyes open so they%26#039;ll water, but the danger there is concentrating harder on that than your acting and making odd faces trying to keep from blinking.

A lot is about what you do with your voice and body. ACT like you%26#039;re sad/crying. If the tears don%26#039;t actually come, it shouldn%26#039;t affect your audience any less than if they were pouring down your face.

And the ability to %26quot;cry on cue%26quot; does not necessarily a good actor make.
Reply:don%26#039;t blink for 1 minute

Which picture would make the best headshot?
None of the five are terrific for your purposes, but of the group, probably picture 2, although your teeth don%26#039;t look great.

Just because it%26#039;s a pretty picture doesn%26#039;t make it a good headshot. You want something that%26#039;s flattering but that looks like you. Don%26#039;t put your hand or a flower in front of your face, that%26#039;s the part of you they want to see.

The type of picture depends on whether it%26#039;s for commercials or stage, stylistically they differ, but always use a black and white 8 x 10. For your age, you might be best going with a recent school photo (you can scan it into your computer and make it B%26amp;W) if it came out nice. Or have someone who is a good hobby photographer take you out for a day and shoot three or four rolls of film. You%26#039;re bound to get at least four good shots that way.

I really want to become an actress.. how much does it help if you know someone in the business?

I have an uncle and aunt who are best friends with some major directors and people like that.. would that help me? (the way i see it is.. it could help me if one of them likes me or I just dont get noticed.) If it does how can I make the most of it next time I see them?
I really want to become an actress.. how much does it help if you know someone in the business?
I am sure your uncle and aunt are not friends with them because of that so they might not want to have you using them like that. Try an acting agency and start out small or something. Do community plays and maybe ask your aunt and uncle to come see! (because you love them!!)
I really want to become an actress.. how much does it help if you know someone in the business?
The reality is that knowing someone helps. A lot. For example, my father used to work for RCA years ago. RCA owned NBC. While I was a teenager, he used to get us tickets to earlier days of Saturday Night Live. He could have also gotten me in the page program at NBC. I however, was naive and unfocused so I never took advantage of it. 8 years later, I wanted to but he had moved on to another company and most of his influential colleagues had left.

However, you do not want to pressure your aunt and uncle. What happens is that everyone and their brother is trying to get a hold of their friends and use them. When you are influential in the entertainment industry, just about everyone has ulterior motives for being your friend.

I would ask them for advice. They could help provide some answers and guidance. They sound like a wonderful resource for a young person.

Good luck!
Reply:1.

Play Ideas!!!!!!!?

I am writing a play for my acting club that me and my friend are making, I normally have some pretty good ideas but I just ahve writers block at the moment! Any ideas of one to write? I may not use any if I get my own idea but I could always use the support! Thanks so much for your time!
Play Ideas!!!!!!!?
I think your play could be something that kids at your school has a problem about. Like being a social outcast or a geek or anything. I think most kids will appreciate it if you plan the play to encourage them to be theirselves and do good.

You could imagine the story now.
Play Ideas!!!!!!!?
You are not too young. Our theatre class writes their own play every year and present it at the end of the second semester. I think the funiest one is the one the do in which the rewrote Cinderella, but had her coming to their school. Had nerds in it and people from all walks talking to her. Very funny lines and they present it each year to the class that is coming to visit and walk through the school that will be attending in the fall. It goes through the classes they offer and the hallways, rules and stuff in a fun, silly way.
Reply:I%26#039;ve written plays too :) But I assume yours are for teens and children. Anyway, good luck!

How would Elizabethan Audiences reacted to Macbeth?

Catcalls and booing whenever Lady Macbeth urges her husband to commit murder.
How would Elizabethan Audiences reacted to Macbeth?
They absolutely loved this play - after all it%26#039;s one of the greatest plays ever written. They would have been enthralled by the %26quot;Double bubble, boil and trouble,%26quot; speech of the three witches.
How would Elizabethan Audiences reacted to Macbeth?
Shakepeare was the hot playwright of his day. His shows had the imprimatur of the monarchy. He was the hottest ticket in town. They would have undoubtedly thrilled to the story of murder and supernatural intervention and all the war and gore. It still makes for a very hot evening in the theatre.

I really want to act?

i really want to become an actress, and i know that theatre is the best way to get experience, but there is not a program at my school, or anywhere around so im just wondering what other kinds of things i can do to get experience because this is so important to me THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!!
I really want to act?
I am an actress and i will help you as much as i can darling!

First of all do u badly wnt 2 b an actress? Is ur life all about acting? Is this wat u really want?

Anyway try the internet for drama schools or drama clubs near you. Or join an acting school (thats what i did and i still am !)

If there are any problems just email me

I really want to act?
No theatre at your school and no community theatre in town or plays at church? You are stuck!
Reply:Start early, as you%26#039;re doing now. Pay attention to the classified ads in places like www.craigslist.org under the %26quot;Gigs%26quot; category. Most major cities have some filming and casting going on all the time. If you get hired for a 30 second bit part, great! By itself this isn%26#039;t impressive but if you get hired many times for such small parts a bigger part may well come your way. Movie producers need people of all shapes and sizes.

It also helps to take drama classes. If you can%26#039;t afford any or find any near you, get a classic modern play such as %26quot;Cat on a Hot Tin Roof%26quot; and act out every character%26#039;s part.Do this in front of a mirror and observe yourself for nervous mannerisms. If you find any, try to make them less obvious. In time you%26#039;ll gain control over them.

Involve your friends. Most people like to act, at least as far as pretending goes.
Reply:There%26#039;s *nothing* around you? No community theater or little theater somewhere within reach? If not, you could always try to get a drama program started at your school - speak with your administrators. Even if that doesn%26#039;t work, you could start a drama club to do things on a smaller scale. Very often, churches do pageants around Christmas or Easter - it%26#039;s not the best scenario, but it is practice. There are plenty of good books you could read on the subject - I think there might even be one called %26quot;On Acting%26quot;. Does your local cable station have a public access channel? You could do your own performances with your friends and get them aired. Cable channels often have a small studio for use by public access shows. Be sure to watch movies that feature great performances by other actors. This is probably the easiest thing for you to do. Rent all of the Oscar-winning %26quot;Best Actor/Actress%26quot; films and study the performance of the winners. Actually, the winners of the Screen Actors Guild awards might be better, since they are voted on by their peers. Watch shows on acting whenever possible. %26quot;Inside the Actor%26#039;s Studio%26quot; isn%26#039;t always the most informative show on the process of acting itself, but it does frequently have good information about how established actors started, and how they got experience. Your local bookstore will have some screenplays or stage plays that you can purchase. Get these and act them out in front of a videocamera. Play them back and observe your technique. Also, when you rent DVDs, look for the special features menu and see if they have any features on the casting of the movie. Watching established actors at an audition or screen test can be very informative.

Good luck.
Reply:Read as much as you can about acting techniques or anything about acting. The best way to get experience is to be in shows. Audition for anything that you can at your local theatre, even if you don%26#039;t want to. Also, you can learn so much from watching performances! Try to find a school that has a decent acting program, even if its not a good one, it is better than nothing. Find out about schools near you that go to distict and state competitions. I went to state a few months ago and learned a ton and had a great time where I got to meet other people from different schools. The best part about state is that you can take free classes!
Reply:First you going to have to go to acting schools for training. Not only one but a couple. Then you should get in local plays, school plays, student films. You could search for auditions on craigslist.com or subscribe to backstage.com The you should get headshots that look like you. Professional headshots are pretty expensive they cost $200-$1000 but on craigslist you could find less expensive headshot that range from $50 to $150. As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA.... HOPE I HELPED

Suggestions PLEASE!! Audition song for Peter Pan Musical at local theatre.?

I will be trying for part of either Peter or Wendy. I am a soprano with eight years classical training through a local college program. I am 14. I have a large theatre resume with parts of all sizes. I have recently been on television and know they expect good things so I really want to make a good impression with song choice and of course presentation. Thanks everyone.

Suggestions PLEASE!! Audition song for Peter Pan Musical at local theatre.?
well, if you%26#039;re a soprano, I would lean more towards Wendy%26#039;s part. Any of Maria%26#039;s songs from West Side Story (namely I Feel Pretty) would be spectacular.

Also, if you still want to go for Peter, some of Amneris%26#039; songs from Aida are really good for a soprano who still can belt. My Strongest Suit would work well and if you could pull of the bridge section from Every Story is a Love Story you would majorly impress your judges :)

Best of luck, I hope you get your part :)

Do you know any acting excercizes or scripts or skits?

please tell me I am going to acting school next week
Do you know any acting excercizes or scripts or skits?
Oh i LOVE this question!!!

OK, heres what you do. Get about 3 peices of paper. rip each of them in to 4 peices. (( now you have 12 slips )) on 4 slips, write a charcter. On another 4 slips, write a place. On the remaining slips, write the main plot

eg: Britney spears; rehab; crying

or

alien; Earth; confused about what to do / wher 2 go.

stuff like that. once youve done this, you can put the places in one hat / bag. The plots in another, and the charcters in yet another. then draw a place, plot, and charcter from each hat. After you have those things, act out a little skit anywhere between 2 - 4 mins. It could be funny, dramatic, or even romantic.

Hope i helped!!

Do you know any acting excercizes or scripts or skits?
You do not need scripts or anything. The best exercise is to make up scenarios on the spot and improvise. You NEED improvising skills because if you mess up, you can%26#039;t pause in the middle of the scene and say....ummm, sorry can I try again? If you can improvise, you should have no problem with any script that they give you.

Have you thought of joining a local theatre group? You could get plenty of experience doing what you love.
Reply:Manchester New Hampshire? If it is send me a message i might be able to help you
Reply:No, but a good place to start is to head to tourist information and local libraries, they%26#039;ll have details on theatre companies and groups in the area.

Also, just go to the local theatres, or call them and say you%26#039;re interested in getting involved over the summer and ask if they have any opportunities, and if not, if they know of any groups that are running. A lot of the theatres have their own summer workshops or amateur or youth theatre groups, you jjust have to ask around.

As for actual auditions, if you%26#039;re refering to professional shows, its highly unlikely you%26#039;ll find any of that. A lot of companies run on an invite to audition basis, or only advertise auditions through agencies. Which would mean being registered and having a portfolio of work, which in turn would mean having a background of experience in the industry. Even then, you%26#039;d lilely be up against more experienced people. Not saying you couldn%26#039;t out perform them, but the odds would weigh against you. Also consider that in professional shows the director has a set idea of who each character is, so you need to understand the part you want to audition for before going, if, say you were going for the role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, then unless you look young and petite and innocent, but also extremely beautiful, you probably wouldn%26#039;t get looked at twice, unless the director is looking for something very different. But generally thats in the audition details.

But Im off on a tangent. Look for amateur groups you can get involved with long term. Amateur groups thrive on new blood, and keeping the interest of people to be involved. It can be very hard to generate that genuine interest. Also if you%26#039;re set on being involved in theatre and acting as a career choice, then you will need a lot of hands on experience in shows, so get involved any way you can.

Reply:Check out National Youth Theatre in London. It%26#039;s been a good many moons since I did it (I was 17... oof, like a decade ago!!). I have a feeling there%26#039;s a very good youth theatre up north somewhere too and Manchester is ringing a bell... but it%26#039;s been so many years... I really don%26#039;t remember. If you%26#039;re considering acting as a career as I was, definitely check out NYT. They hold auditions throughout the UK. Very prestigious. And geared towards the profession.

HELP!! I Need A Monologue!!!!!?

hey! im doing an audition in 6 days and i know i should have my monologue by now but i just cant find one :(

i need one that is 2-3 minutes long and everyone i have found is like 1 1/2 minutes or like 10 minutes and it making me crazy lol

im an eleven year old girl but i could play as old as like 16 (but it cant have %26quot;suggestive material%26quot; lol swearing is ok cuz i can change it)

and it doesn%26#039;t matter if it dramatic or comedic but i really need one btw it%26#039;s an audition for the advanced preformance company :)

also im thinking good morning baltimore for a song it has to be musical theater so do u think thats a good choice?
HELP!! I Need A Monologue!!!!!?

HELP!! I Need A Monologue!!!!!?
our theatre teacher in my high school is a real actor.

when i needed a monologue i went to him,

he gave me a book full of them.

if you have a drama/theatre teacher ask them,

or look in a library
Reply:Anne Frank is always a good choice for a young girl. There are tons of monologues in the script and don%26#039;t forget that you can cut anything that you want out, to shorten it or cut out lines that other people are saying to make it a monologue.

Good Morning balitimore is a bit overdone, but you can probably still pull it off. If you do decide to change the song, you could change it to something that isn%26#039;t so modern as Hairspray. There are always good classic shows and shows from the 80%26#039;s and 90%26#039;s, you just have to search for the less heard of ones.
Reply:I mean this in a helpful sense purely-- if you are looking to do acting professionally, it might be prudent of you to have a monologue repertoire of at least three varying monologues (comedic, dramatic, and contemporary, with perhaps something Shakspearean as well since so many theatres often do things by him and they will want to see how you act in that tongue).

I%26#039;ll source you a link to a website that has a host of many, many monologues in your age and time range.

When auditioning for a big company like that, I highly suggest doing something you know, can do almost perfectly and in your own style, and (this isn%26#039;t completely necessary) something that isn%26#039;t extremely popular-- that would nix some things like Wicked and Phantom of the Opera. I think you would be able to perform Good Morning Baltimore well as long as you have the vocal range and ability and you are capable of acting it out fully.

I%26#039;ll source you as well to a website that will help you find a song you might like to do.

I really do hope that you get it/in!

I hope that that helps!!

Hayley. : )
Reply:Try this, because you need something that will show bits of your personality, thats right! You is what you try to show ;) Trust me on this. Go up there and start talking about something that is dear to you, you might not even plan this, If they ask you say %26quot;I wrote it myself%26quot; or talk about something that bothers you, but always positively, or something you have noticed on people, see? These are all subjects that you could go on forever. Good luck!

Actress looking for an agent for film?

I am moving to la soon, im 18 and will also be in college. I am spending the next few months getting in shape and saving money for all of the expenses of headshots, offcampus camera classes etc.

My resume holds 6 high school plays, two of which I was a lead and a dance recital. I also won a major state competition that centered around theatrical monologues. I have been in theater my whole high school and middle school time. And have taken a year of both musical theater and acting in HS. Now, in a few months Ill be looking for an agent. Considering my age, will this be enough experience to get an interview along with a killer headshot? Also, should I start with SAG franchised agents even though I dont have a sag card? Any suggestions?

I know alot of people will say get an agent?

but i also heard that if you send your headshots to casting directors you might get a call back for and audition could this be a good way to get started out as and actress abd i know every one is going to say get an agent but most actors to day did not start out with an agent and ive ben in acting classes since i was eight butnever really went to any auditions so help please thanxs
I know alot of people will say get an agent?
yea you can send in your head shot and resume to them but it would be better if you did have an agent to represent you.
I know alot of people will say get an agent?
you need to get a manager before you get an agent and you need to be ready to move to where your manager is i recomend carter entertainment or 123 talent managment...or whilimena dan which is in georgia...but most of them are in CA or NY
Reply:Very few people start out with agents and if they do it%26#039;s because they are either related to the agent or are the offspring of someone who works with that agent.

Sending your headshots to casting directors is a great way to get started. Also consider sending to agents as well. The Ross Reports is a big listing of agents and casting directors and who they represent. Make sure you send a nice cover letter with your headshot/resume as well. Something short and sweet will suffice if you are young.

How can I get on Broadway ??

...Practice and go to auditions. If you%26#039;re good, you%26#039;ll get in. Get a singing/dancing coach for a LONG time beforehand, though - you have to be the best.
How can I get on Broadway ??
TAKE THE LINCOLN TUNNEL TO 34TH AND FOLLOW THAT TO 8TH STREET. TAKE 8TH TO BROADWAY AT 57TH.

GOOD LUCK!
How can I get on Broadway ??
Well this is a somewhat random question. You don%26#039;t give your age or experience or any kind of information to work with.

However, I can give you some general information.

First off, to be a part of theatre at all takes a lot of luck, a lot of talent and an incredible amount of patience and experience.

First you need to just be involved in theatre, so joining any and every group you can.

Second, go to an acting school, or university to study a theatre studies degree. Study and learn, acting isn%26#039;t a job, it%26#039;s a passion, it%26#039;s a hobby, it%26#039;s art, it%26#039;s a craft.

Third, register yourself with an agency and get a lot of experience behind you working professional.

Fourth. Have patience, thousands of actors never make money from acting, even more never even make broadway or the west end. You%26#039;ll need a lot of luck, but you can edge the odds in your favour by being the best you can be, by not being afraid to take any role, no matter what it is or what it requires you to do. Even if you ARE to make it to broadway one day, it will be a long itme, take a lot of experience, a lot of shows under your belt.

Once you have that you need to make sure you are being seen in America, get auditions for shows in the US, take all the ones you can. When you%26#039;re ready make the switch to live there, get another agent for America. And still rely on luck, but always do your very best.

There%26#039;s no guarentee you%26#039;ll ever make it. Even if you do the very best you can, be the very best you cna be and be consistent all through your career, if you%26#039;re not right for broadway, you won%26#039;t get there. If you%26#039;re not right for a role you won%26#039;t get it.

Let%26#039;s assume for the moment that you get to the stage in your career when you are close, very close to being right to take on broadway. Then you need to pick your auditions carefully and be as prepared as possible. Make yourself the only real candidate by being exactly who the role calls for.

It%26#039;s going to be a long, hard weary road to get to being on broadway, if it happens at all. So never give in, and never think its too much for you. Defeatists will never get onto broadway, so always think positively and be positive about things.

Reply:1.

John Robert Powers students!!?

do any of you know where the shinaberry talent agancyu is located?

What would be the best way to get a agent.?

well you should Google up acting agents in (were ever you live). Than when you do go to their website and send your head shot and resume to as much of them as possible. And make sure they%26#039;re legit before you do anything.

P.S- you have to have tons of experience.
What would be the best way to get a agent.?
There are directories in books and on the internet of agencies, just use google to look them up. Review their websites to familiarize yourself and give them a call.

Chances are, if you interest them in any way, they%26#039;ll invite you for a meeting and probably an audition. Yes a lot of (quite possibly all) agencies require auditions.

Try looking for agencies that specialize in any skills or marks you have. For example if you%26#039;re a heavily muscled or heavily overweight person, there are agencies that specialize in these areas.

Finding agencies isn%26#039;t too hard, just look for them on google and make sure you%26#039;re prepared.

I'm looking for a monologue about a teen and funeral..?

It%26#039;s a daughter, not wanting to go to a funeral, which I think is for her mother. She%26#039;s pretty angry, and I don%26#039;t know the writer or if it%26#039;s from a play or not.
I%26#039;m looking for a monologue about a teen and funeral..?
Use fantasy, sit there on chair, and start making up a story, imagine you are telling this story to a buch of friends and use %26quot;he%26quot; thats true talk about someone else most people think monologue is about %26quot;I%26quot; and it dont have to be that way. So talk positevely always about a person, the way maybe you would like him to be, the way you think of an ideal person...

The best will come out of you

You%26#039;ll grab your head and go %26quot;wow, this works!%26quot;

Then you can decide to write that down or not

Because you can do it again and with different words and better at the audition.

What do you think I should change my name to?

I am of Cuban heritage and have a very hispanic sounding name. It is usually massacred terribly by people who don%26#039;t already know me. It is sometimes difficult for people to pronounce and spell even. Therefore most people call me Millie, which is clever since I am interested in drama and want to get by BFA in musical theater. (Millie= Thoroughly Modern Millie, its a musical.) At auditions I usually get, %26quot;oh like Thoroughly Modern Millie?%26quot; Which is just another helpful way to get noticed in this business.

So, my first name isn%26#039;t that much of a mystery although my last name is a little different and quite inelegant at times.

Full name: Milaimys %26quot;Millie%26quot; Castellon

I%26#039;ve thought of changing my name to Millie Castets, Castex, Castel... or to something completely different like Ruz or Verdegi cause they%26#039;re variations of my grandparents%26#039; and great grandparents%26#039; surnames.

I%26#039;ve basically run out of ideas now...so how about you?

Have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
What do you think I should change my name to?
Millie Castellon sounds fine to me.

It%26#039;s not like it%26#039;s hard to pronounce or anything. Castel, Ruz, or Verdegi all work as well but I think you should be proud of your name.
What do you think I should change my name to?
Stick to your name, I think it%26#039;s pretty unique. There are a billion Millies out there. But not so many Milaimys! I like your name and I don%26#039;t encourage you to change it. People already call you Millie, so why change it?
