They absolutely loved this play - after all it%26#039;s one of the greatest plays ever written. They would have been enthralled by the %26quot;Double bubble, boil and trouble,%26quot; speech of the three witches.
How would Elizabethan Audiences reacted to Macbeth?
Shakepeare was the hot playwright of his day. His shows had the imprimatur of the monarchy. He was the hottest ticket in town. They would have undoubtedly thrilled to the story of murder and supernatural intervention and all the war and gore. It still makes for a very hot evening in the theatre.
